TEXT

This wind rose diagram, derived from Aristotle’s Meteorologica, maps the directions and characteristics of 12 prevailing winds to explain global weather patterns, seasonal temperatures, and other physical phenomena. Written around 340 B.C.E., his treatise is the oldest comprehensive exposition on the atmospheric, meteorological, and earth sciences. Moreover, it established the foundation for Western meteorology, astronomy, and alchemy for nearly two millennia.

In fact, the Alchemical League’s copy of Meterologica was stolen from Miriam’s cubby along with two other documents: her design for an apparatus to vaporize and condense metals safely, and most important, a recipe for the League to perfect copper into gold.

Centuries later, alchemy became the theoretical framework for the development of chemistry. But Miriam, a buddy alchemist, knew that anyone found with that recipe would be summarily executed.

Fortunately for you, reading The Deadliest Lie today will not get you beheaded or worse, thrown to the lions. So, don’t be afraid to check out this first story in the Miriam bat Isaac Mystery Series. Just click here.
