History of Magic sparks A New Novel, DEMON RISING by DeAnna Browne
Most fiction starts with a single idea. For my novel, DEMON RISING, it started with the question, what if demons roamed the earth? Then the idea snowballed into people’s personal demons, literally and figuratively.
In my research for this novel, I learned about the Seal of Solomon, a grimoire or book about magic that dates back to the 14th or 15th century Italian Renaissance. In this book, magical experiments or spells are listed along with seventy-two spirits kept in Solomon’s vessel. Practitioners of this magic are meant to purge themselves and their sins beforehand.

Thirty years ago, dark magicians unleashed new power on the earth fueled by demons. Governments toppled, millions died, and magicians ended up on top of the food chain.

On the hunt for her missing sister, she must rely on Darion, a treacherous ex-boyfriend with ties to the local coven for back-up. Problem is he’s a pyromancer that can’t be trusted, especially with her heart. Becca is forced to navigate a dangerous web of deceit and must decide what’s she’s willing to sacrifice to save her sister.
