WAS ALEXANDER’S DEATH NATURAL OR WAS HE POISONED?


Alexander the Great died in Babylon at the age of 32 after suffering ten days of a high fever. Theories concerning the cause of his death have ranged from poisoning to malaria to meningitis to a bacterial infection from drinking contaminated water. Did Alexander die of a natural cause or was he poisoned?

Similarly, in THE DEADLIEST FEVER, the fourth Miriam bat Isaac mystery, Hamilcar, the captain of the Thalia, dies in flagrante delicto at a sleazy waterfront inn. Did he suffer a heart attack or was he poisoned?
