What jewelry did Roman men wear?

Adult male citizens, like Miriam’s father and brother, wore at the very least a personalized signet or seal ring like this first-century CE silver carnelian ring cut intaglio (below the surface) with an image of the Roman god Mercury. In Chapter 23 of THE DEADLIEST LIE, one of the few things Binyamin takes with him when he leaves Alexandria is his signet ring.

The seal was a man’s distinguishing mark, equivalent today to his signature. By making an impression in the wax sealing a document, he authenticated his correspondence and legitimized his transactions. For Roman men, the size of their signet ring and its gemstone reflected their status. The motifs varied widely from gods and goddesses to depictions of every aspect of Roman life.
